Privacy Policy
Effective September 26, 2026. Updated October 10, 2026 to name the owner, close the early-access list, explain the label on App Store buttons and say that fonts are now served from this site.
SplashReel is made by Menvielle Labs. It is a water polo app designed to keep your video on your own devices. The app has no user accounts, collects no analytics, and shares nothing with third parties. This website does a little more than the app, and the section called “This website” below says exactly what.
What the app stores
- The videos you record and the moments you tag are saved on your device (in the app's storage, and visible in the Files app). They are not uploaded to us.
- Photos: if you choose “Save to Photos” (or enable auto-save), the selected videos are copied into your device's photo library. This only happens when you ask for it.
Multi-camera connections
When you use a second device as a camera, the devices connect directly to each other over Apple's local peer-to-peer networking (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) to sync clocks and transfer clips. This data travels only between your devices on your local network. It does not pass through our servers, and the app has no server that receives your footage.
A device hosting a game announces itself to other devices nearby so cameras can find it. That announcement carries the game name you typed and the team name, so the person filming can tell your game apart from another club's. Any device in range can see those two names, in the same way it can see a nearby printer or speaker. If you'd rather not broadcast it, don't put a player's name in the game name. Nothing else is announced: not your roster, not your moments, and not the camera code itself.
A camera can only join by entering the 4-digit code shown on the tagging device. Without it, a nearby device is refused and receives nothing: no moments, no video.
Permissions we request
- Camera & Microphone: to record your games.
- Photos (add only): to save clips and reels you choose to export.
- Local Network: to connect to nearby cameras for multi-camera recording.
Each permission is used only for the purpose above. You can change them anytime in iOS Settings.
What the app sends us
Nothing. SplashReel does not collect personal information, does not track you across apps or websites, and contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Apart from the device-to-device link described above, the app talks to only one thing: Apple's App Store, which sells your pass and confirms you have one. Apple handles the payment. We never see your payment details, and Apple doesn't tell us who you are.
This website
Most pages on this site run no analytics. A few do a little more:
- Reel pages. The pages that play a game reel or a training video count views, so we know how many times a reel was watched. Each count records which video, whether the page was opened, whether play was pressed, and how many seconds were actually watched. It also records a random ID that your browser stores so we can tell a repeat visit from a new one, a random ID for each visit, the city your connection appears to be in as reported by our host, whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and the time. We do not record your IP address, your name or your email, we do not use the counts for advertising, and we do not share them. Clearing this site's data in your browser resets the random ID.
- Video hosting. The videos on those pages are streamed by Cloudflare Stream. As with any video host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic device details when the player loads.
- Contact page. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check, to keep spam out.
- App Store buttons. When you tap an App Store button, the link tells Apple which channel you came from, such as “email” or “search”, never who you are. A small script on each page works that label out from the link you clicked or, for search engines and AI assistants, from the page your browser says sent you here. It stores nothing in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. The label travels only inside the App Store link, and only if you tap it.
- Fonts. The typefaces are served from this site itself, so your browser does not contact Google or any other font host.
Like any website, our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address.
Email you send us
Three things on this website and in the app involve an email address, and all of them start with you:
- The contact form on this site: your name, email, and message, kept so we can reply to you.
- The early-access list: it is closed, and we no longer sign anyone up. If you joined it before launch and want your email deleted, ask through the contact page.
- Beta tester free access: if you back up your free access, you email us your address yourself, from your own mail app. We keep it only to restore your access if you switch devices.
We don't share any of these with anyone, and none of them is connected to the app's videos, rosters, or moments, which never leave your device.
Children
SplashReel is a tool for parents and coaches to film youth sports. Within the app, footage of minors stays on the operator's device and is shared only by that person's own choice. The reel pages on this site are separate from the app: those videos are uploaded by us, not by the app, and they are described under “This website” above. Please follow your club's and league's consent rules when filming.
Deleting your data
Delete any game or recording inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything it stored on the device. Videos you copied to Photos are managed in the Photos app.
